Penchenat
| This method is highly effective at isolating and working specific muscle groups giving deep reinforcement to the muscles being stretched. The unique design of the equipment enables clients to work in exceptional positions that would not otherwise be possible thereby strengthening the anti-gravity muscles and providing relief for back problems. The studio offers Penchenat Certification Courses for students who are familiar with the art. Table Penchenat takes a whole new twist on the Pilates experience. Clients isolate muscle groups on the Penchenat Table, much like the Pilates Reformer.
The Table Penchenat Method has been proven as a way for clients to lengthen muscles, strengthen the spine and develop muscle tone. Clients will maximize flexibility through this method, offering rapid and constant change. In the 1920’s French physiotherapist Ferdinand Penchenat established the basis for the method. With his understanding of body movement and physical rehabilitation he designed a special table. This table is unique and innovative in its form of fitness training. The table is distinctive in both its shape and tilt feature. The design enables clients to ‘Anchor’ themselves, therefore displacing the center of gravity that works deep in the muscles. This method is unique North America and is so highly effective at isolating and working specific muscle groups that will revolutionize all other forms of group fitness training. The ‘anchoring’ positions below the horizon line of the table provide a greater range of motion that would be impossible to achieve with floor work. The benefits are greater flexibility, less compensation and strain, more stability and better isolation. Christine De Bellefeuille, co-owner of Total Balance, in Downtown Oakville is the first fully certified instructor in North America. Christine, widely known for her instruction in Pilates, has now brought this method to her studio. She offers the Penchenat method in her group classes as well as private classes. The first teacher certification course in Canada will also be offered to fitness and health professionals. |
